Kruidjie roer my - Die antieke helingskuns van die Karoo-veld, written in Afrikaans by Antoinette Pienaar, is as much her and Oom Johannes' story as it is a way to transfer the ancient art of healing and heritage of Karoo herbs to following generations.
Published by Umuzi and dedicated to Oom Johannes, Kruidjie is 144 pages filled with Karoo stories and knowledge. The book is already in its fourth print and does especially well in association with the Afrikaans radio station Radiosondergrense's programme 'Kruie kraai Koning' on Tjailatyd (Fridays at 4.30pm) when Antoinette talks about herbs.
An English translation of the book, The Griqua's Apprentice - Ancient healing arts of the Karoo, will be on the shelves later this year.
